Tender, slow-cooked pork is one of those classic meals that brings people together around the table. With simple seasonings, a low-and-slow cooking method, and your favorite BBQ sauce, this pulled pork is flavorful, juicy, and easy to make for the whole family. Ingredients
- 1 Pork Boston Butt (Shoulder) Roast, approximately 3 lbs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup chicken or beef broth
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, plus more for serving
- 6-8 hamburger buns or slices of fresh sourdough bread
Instructions
- Pat the pork roast dry and rub it all over with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and onion powder.
- Place the roast in a slow cooker and pour the broth around it.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir in the BBQ sauce. Let it cook for another 15-20 minutes.
- Serve the pulled pork piled high on fresh buns or sourdough bread with additional BBQ sauce, if desired.
